Renewal of a peace-themed monument was carried out in conjunction with the renewal of the Central Park in Yokosuka City.
At sunset, the monument becomes illuminated and emits the light of peace into the sky, representing an axis of unshakable peace.
The circle has the ancient meaning of “infinity, eternity,” and the monument is decorated with many circles drawn by citizens with the wish for lasting peace. During the day, it is a place where sunlight pours in. People can feel peace from the light leaking from the circles they have drawn and the open landscape in front of them. At night, it is filled with grains of light carrying people’s wishes for peace. Words of peace from around the world come to life.
