    Partnership formed between Hakuten Co., Ltd. and North America's Sustainable Life Media, Inc. (SLM, Inc.)

    Hakuten Co., Ltd. (located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO Tokuhisa Taguchi), a company expanding its business in the area of event marketing, and Sustainable Life Media, Inc. (hereafter referred to as SLM, Inc.; located in San Francisco, California, USA; Founder and CEO KoAnn Skrzyniarz), an integrated media company holding Sustainable Brands conferences on the theme of sustainability-led brand innovation from its base in the USA, announced entering into a partnership agreement on December 21. As both companies have the objective of a wide variety of promotional activities in "sustainability," a main focus for company growth, we aim to build a community for ongoing discussions on "sustainability" and proposals regarding the new business ideals which will lead the coming age, by holding a "Sustainable Brands Conference" in Japan in 2017.

    Sustainable Brands is a global learning, collaboration and communication platform for brand innovators inspired to leverage sustainability as a driver of business and brand value. Sustainable Brands events within the Global Conference Network convene community members throughout the year and across the globe. The hallmark conference in San Diego, CA USA has grown to nearly 2,000 participants and next year 11 cities will host Sustainable Brands events including Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Copenhagen, Cape Town, and Bangkok.

    Participants in Sustainable Brands conferences held in different countries around the world include CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) managers, corporate executives, brand managers, marketing managers, HR managers, as well as supply chain and procurement managers, with conferences notably characterized by a large number of NGO/NPO participants.

    By holding this international conference, our company hereafter aims to support Japanese businesses through stronger brand building which is centered around the integration of CSR and branding, providing advanced trends in global sustainability for businesses in Japan while simultaneously transmitting corporate CSR information (ESG) globally.
